2022 Award Recipients
Channa Engelsen
Channa applied course concepts thoroughly and completely to each and every assignment. Her coursework demonstrated deep thought and application. Additionally, Channa was supportive of the class community, oftentimes acknowledging other students’ observations and explaining how these contributions informed Channa’s perspective. Channa is a model student, and I am happy to honor her accomplishments!

Claudia Perez Zuno
Read 142 has been meaningful to me because it has taught me the essential skills that are involved in critical thinking, reading, and writing, such as logic and rhetoric. I have become a better critical reader by using my active reading strategies for logical analysis in addition to using my critical thinking skills. Read 142 has been beneficial because I know I can apply all the valuable information I learned in my future career as well as in all aspects of my life. Thank you Professor Tuttle for selecting me to receive the Reading Achievement Award. I am extremely humbled and honored!

Evan Kim
READ 142 has been meaningful to me as guidance into being a critical reader and analyzing texts from a new perspective. I have gained knowledge surrounding vocabulary and reading material that will strengthen my skills in future courses. I have also had the opportunity to engage through various assignments and receive help from tutoring sessions. READ 142 has opened my eyes to understanding that a text is more than words but contains meaning and purpose.

Evan impressed me with his ability to be articulate while analyzing argumentative texts. He was extremely committed to participating in class and at tutoring sessions. He demonstrated openness to opinions and to the perspectives of other authors. It is my honor to accept the Bill Glassman Reading Scholarship. My time here at Fullerton has just started, but having the award is truly meaningful. I would like to thank my previous professors for the work they have given to not only myself, but other students. I would also like to give a warm thanks to Professor Garcia for the nomination! As my first year as a college student comes to a close, I know the challenges and difficulties that will come in the near future. Being a student at Fullerton College was a hard journey and I needed to work hard to get where I’m at today. Marie not only demonstrated skill in critical reading and writing, but she was a wonderful role model to her peers within online discussions. I am proud to have been Marie’s professor this semester and know that she will continue to prosper in her academic journey.
